He was weighed against 65 kg silver bars, equal to his weight, donated by various social organisations by the Indore Nagrik Abhinandan Samiti and funds realised after selling the silver will be used for rehab work in flood-hit Uttarakhand.

Speaking on the occasion, Chouhan termed the natural calamity in Uttarakhand as the "biggest tragedy" of the century. The chief minister said 741 pilgrims from Madhya Pradesh were still missing in Uttarakhand and announced the state government would pay Rs two lakh to the kin of those who are listed as missing and Rs five lakh to those who have lost their parents in the tragedy.

Chouhan also claimed that 24-hour power was being supplied in all the 50 districts of the state under the Atal Jyoti Abhiyan and termed it as an "historic achievement". Referring to the power generation capacity, he said earlier the state used to generate only 2,900 MW of power which has now increased to 10,600 MW and there are plans to further enhance the capacity to 17,000 MW.
