CHENNAI: Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Tuesday directed the authorites to restore power supply to all households in Cuddalore and Villupuram disticts ahead of Pongal festival. The CM reviewed the progress of relief and restoration works in Thane-affected areas, with the top officials at the Secretariat.Already, 18,000 electric poles have been transported to Cuddalore and Villupuram districts and special arrangements have been made to bring 12,000 more poles from other States like Madhya Pradesh, AP and Kerala.Already, 3,000 personnel of the TNEB are on duty in Thane-hit areas and the CM has directed to de pute 5,000 more personnel from other districts in works to restore power. As many as two lakh families which have lost their hutments and 31,000 families which have lost tiled houses have been given compensation. A total of 3.84 lakh hutments and houses were damaged by the cyclone.
