In Chikkamagaluru, Karnataka, a unique and challenging Ragi Mudde (finger millet balls) eating competition was held on MG Road, or Mahatma Gandhi Road, Bengaluru. As per Local 18 Kannada, this competition comprising 3 rounds was organised by the District Panchayat and District SVEEP committee. They have collaborated with the District Horticulture department. A contestant named Lohit Kumar won this contest by eating 2 Ragi Mudde in just 11 seconds. Kumar was applauded for this feat and honoured with a cash prize of Rs 5,000. Another contestant, Mudde Veera, from Chikkamagaluru, was honoured for consuming the Ragi Mudde. As seen in the Local 18 Kannada video byte, the people present at the venue enjoyed the competition thoroughly and the administration also motivated them to take part in the voting process.

The competition was made more challenging for the contestants as vegetable curry was also served with it. Despite this, the participants left no stone unturned to digest the food items somehow and also kept drinking water to help in the digestion. The onlookers recorded the incident and clapped for the participants, thereby boosting their morale and confidence to win the task. As seen in the video, some of the participants found it difficult to eat even one ball of Ragi Mudde along with the vegetable curry. Judges kept recording the time taken to consume the food and based on that, they decided the winner of the task. The video ended with the interview of the winner, Lohit Kumar.

Ragi Mudde eating competition was held in Mandya, Dr BR Ambedkar Bhavana, Karnataka as part of a cereal fair. The event saw 62-year-old contestant Ere Gowda showcase his enormous appetite by consuming an impressive ten Ragi Mudde (finger millet balls) within the allotted 30-minute timeframe. Each millet ball weighed precisely 2 kilograms and 717 grams, ensuring a fair distribution among the contestants. The competition included not only the quantity of Ragi Mudde consumed but also other delicacies like chicken broth, meat, and eggs. Ere Gowda demonstrated amazing composure and patience as he relished each morsel, securing his victory over other participants.
