HYDERABAD: Chain-snatchers had a field day in the city on Sunday. Moving on black Pulsars, they snatched ornaments weighing nearly 14 tolas from four women at Uppal, Musheerabad, Chilkalguda and Kanchanbagh in nine hours. Though the snatchers could successfully strike at four places, at Chandrayangutta, alert locals caught a chain-snatcher and handed him over to the police. In the first incident, snatchers stuck at Saraswathi Nagar in Uppal.A 50-year-old woman, Saraswati, was returning home around 7.30 a.m after purchasing essentials at a nearby store in Nagole when two persons came on a black motorcycle and snatched away her 3-tola gold chain.Around 3 p.m, snatchers escaped with another 3-tola gold chain from a 35-yearold woman, Ramadevi, at Champapet.Ramadevi of Santoshnagar was returning home after meeting her friends in Saidabad when the incident took place, police said.In the third incident, two motorcycle-borne youngsters snatched a 5-tola gold chain from a 65-year-old woman, S Laxmi, at Risalagadda in Musheerabad.Laxmi was on her way to purchase medicines from a medical shop near her residence around 4 p.m.when the miscreants came from behind and snatched her chain.Within minutes, miscreants, suspected to be members of the same gang, targeted a grocery store owner, T Shoba and made away with 3.5-tola gold chain at Mailargadda in Chilkalguda.Posing as a customer, the miscreant approached Shoba and started enquiring about some commodities.Suddenly, he snatched away her gold chain and fled away on a motorcycle on which his accomplice was waiting.The person, waiting on the motorcycle, kept on blowing the horn to ensure that nearby people do not hear the screams of Shoba, police said.In all the incidents, youngsters aged between 22 and 24 years were involved and police suspect two gangs.However, at Bandlaguda in Chandrayangutta, alert locals caught a person who tried to snatch a gold chain from a woman, wife of a constable.They thrashed him and handed him over to police.An associate of the nabbed person managed to escape.Miscreants Damage 4 RTC BusesAs many as four buses belonging to the stateowned APSRTC were damaged by miscreants at Vanasthalipuram on Sunday.Around 9 p.m., unidentified miscreants hurled stones at the RTC-hired buses passing through Hasthinapuram area in Vanasthalipuram.Window glasses and windshields of four buses got damaged in the incident.The damaged buses were shifted to Ibrahimpatnam depot.LB Nagar DCP D Nagendra Kumar confirmed the attack on RTC buses and said that none was injured.
