CBI inquiry concludes IAS officer DK Ravi committed suicide, suffered loss in real estate business
In the Preliminary Enquiry (PE) the CBI has concluded that it was due to failure in property business and not because of his alleged one sided affair with an IAS batch mate.

Bengaluru: According to top sources, the Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday concluded that IAS officer DK Ravi committed suicide. It has ruled out the murder or abetment of suicide theory. In the Preliminary Enquiry (PE) the CBI has concluded that it was due to failure in property business and not because of his alleged one sided affair with an IAS batch mate.

The CBI concluded that he committed suicide by hanging. Report in final stage, the CBI found out that some of his batch mates have invested money in his real estate business. His female batch mate has also invested Rs 10 lakh in Ravi's venture R and H Properties. It was a joint venture with a friend Hari.

Together they collected an amount of almost Rs 5.5 crores. They wanted to acquire SC/ST land in Chikkabalpur for their venture. But it was illegal and they were finding it difficult to handle the enormous pressure from investors to return the money. When the pressure increased he asked his friend to pay Rs.2 crore to his wife. The CBI sources say that alleged affair was going on for some time and can't be a trigger for his death.

A day before his death a call came and he got down off from car. Sources say caller had threatened him of serious consequences if the money was not paid.
