Noida: Exactly a fortnight after police dug out 17 skeletons of young children and women from a bungalow at Sector 31, Noida, a team of CBI landed at the D-5 residence of serial killing suspect Moninder Singh Pandher on Friday, looking for vital clues in the case relating to sexual abuse and murder of several children and women.
A CBI team comprising nearly 30 members, including forensic experts, visited Nithari early on Friday scanned the scene of crime and the drain from which the skeletal remains of the children had been recovered.
The CBI sleuths also inspected the adjoining buildings. The CBI team was led by DIG M K Narayanan and Joint Director Arun Kumar. Senior Noida police officials, including SSP R K S Rathore, accompanied the team. "Our investigation is at a preliminary stage now," PTI quoted a CBI officer as saying.
The Noida police had recovered as many as 17 skulls and several bone pieces from the drain and the bungalow premises on December 29 and thereafter.
The CBI constituted over a dozen teams to probe every aspect of the grisly crime following the receipt of a formal request from the UP Government for an enquiry into the case. The premier investigating agency has roped in forensic experts from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Andhra Pradesh Forensic Laboratory and Central Forensic and Sciences Laboratory to conduct tests on the bones.
The CBI team will also probe if there were any lapses on the part of the local police. CBI has already taken key accused Pandher and his domestic help Surendra Koli into its custody for a fortnight
The agency sleuths are also likely to question the staff at nearby hospitals and nursing homes amid reports that the Nithari killings were possibly linked to a human organ racket. The agency is also likely to conduct a series of DNA tests to identify the victims.
