A 15-year-old boy received grave injuries after being attacked by his neighbour’s pet pit bull in Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad Tuesday afternoon.

The incident from the city near the national capital was captured on surveillance cameras, reported NDTV.

In the visuals that have now emerged, the dog pins the boy, Altaf, to the ground and attacks as a man and a woman look on without raising an alarm or intervening.

The boy then tries to get the dog off him and rolls on the dog, while someone throws water to distract the dog. In a few moments, the boy manages to get up, and runs to safety with the dog still following him.

As the video progresses, Altaf clings onto a gate to seek shelter when street dogs come charging at the pit bull and the boy manages to get inside the house.

The dog has been captured by the Municipal Corporation.

Kamlesh Singh, a neighbour, alleged that the family was asked not to keep a dog of a violent breed in the locality.

According to the local police, no complaint has been lodged so far. The boy is now undergoing treatment at a Delhi hospital.

Last month, the central government directed states to ban the sale and breeding of 23 breeds of ferocious dogs, including Pitbull Terrier, American Bulldog, Rottweiler and Mastiffs, amid rising instances of people dying due to pet dog attacks.
