Cadre nabbed

ROURKELA: The Maoist cadre Ram Mahato alias Mahanta was produced in Panposh SDJM court on Sunday night.
Informing this to mediapersons, Rourkela SP Himanshu Lal said Mahanta was involved in the killings of reformed Maoist Kandri Lohar alias Madhuri and her fouryearold son in February. He said the group was led by the chief of the Dakshin Chhota Nagpur Zonal Committee Anmol Hembram alias Samarjee and Kandri and her son were kidnapped from Mahipani in Bisra block. The twin murders came hours after the erstwhile area commander Md Muslim and his two armed associates were gunned down by police. The rebels held Kandri responsible for the death of Muslim and others.Mahanta has five cases pending at the bordering Bisra police station in Sundargarh district and was arrested on Saturday from Bisra's Jharbera with a pistol and 10 live bullets.
