BHUBANESWAR: Remembering Indira Gandhi as ‘determination personified’, Governor MC Bhandare released the book ‘Indira Gandhi - Revolution in Restraint (1917-71)’ here on Monday. The book has been authored by Uma Vasudev. She reminisced about her association with Indira and described the difficulties she faced in gathering materials to complete the book in time. The 570-page book is said to have contained 180 rare photographs on the life and times of the former prime minister.Bhandare talked about Indira’s bold decisions to do away with privy purse, nationalise banks and liberate Bangladesh. ‘’From childhood she was brought up on a diet of socialism, equality and economic freedom,’’ said Bhandare.The book chronicles Indira’s evolution from a shy child to a stateswoman of immense ability and vision. Writer Arun Mohanty, Sanjay Arya of Subhi Publications and art critic Aruna Vasudev were present at the function held at Abhishek Hall of Raj Bhavan.
