Berlin heads new leftist outfit

The Socialist Samvada Vedi with communist ideologue Berlin Kunhanandhan Nair as chairman has been formed at the initiative of those who left the CPM.

The Vedi was formed by a gathering of workers of the Socialist Unity Centre, former Naxalites, and those who left the CPM. Berlin Kunhanandhan Nair and M V Padmanabhan are the chairman and secretary, respectively, of the Vedi.

A nine-member working committee and 21-member- general council also have been formed. The formal inauguration of the Vedi will take place in October.

Veteran communists from all over the state will participate in the inaugural meet.
