"Members of the BASIC group have already announced a series of mitigation actions for 2020. The ministers expressed their intention to communicate information on their voluntary mitigation actions to the UNFCCC by January 31, 2010," says Union Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh.
Copenhagen Accord was a result of last minute negotiations between the BASIC group and the US at the UN led climate summit at Copenhagen that calls for actions to lock the global temperature from rising beyond two degrees Celsius.
At second ministerial level meeting, BASIC group have asked the Climate Summit President to convene meetings of negotiating groups at least five times so that a successful climate treaty is inked at Mexico in November.
The BASIC group has also called for the early flow of pledged $10 billion in 2010 by the developed countries to support poor countries in adapting to climate change.
