New Delhi: The Centre on Thursday alerted state governments and beefed up security at various economic centre-points and vital installations, including Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) and Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).
The Centre's announcement comes as a precautionary measure against possible terrorist attacks following Wednesday's strike at the Bangalore-based Indian Institute of Science.
Security forces in Hyderabad are also on high alert as Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is scheduled to inaugurate the 93rd Indian Science Congress on January 3.
President A P J Abdul Kalam will be addressing the Congress to be attended by over 100 scientists.
