Bangalore: The eighth accused in the gangrape of a Bangalore law student has been nabbed on Tuesday. Raja was the only one who was to be arrested. Last week the convicts were sentenced to life imprisonment by the trial court in the case. The one remaining accused is a minor and the trial is going on at a Juvenile court in Bangalore.
The Criminal Injuries Board of Karnataka has been asked to compensate the survivor for mental trauma.
The order came almost a year after eight men gangraped a student of India's top Law College, National Law School of India, University (NLSIU) Bangalore.
A Nepalese in her early 20s was abducted and raped by a gang of local youth in October 2012. The gang found the survivor in the company of her male college mate at NLSIU in the Bangalore University campus. They attacked her college mate, took the survivor deeper into the heavily wooded campus and took turns to rape her.
The victim left NLSIU and returned to Nepal after the incident. However she came to Bangalore to give all details of the incident to the trial court.
