PUDUCHERRY: The Pondicherry University’s Community Radio station - Puduvai Vani was awarded the Manathan Award South Asia 2011 at the Manathan Award 2011 Gala organised by the Digital Empowerment Foundation and Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in New Delhi on December 1 and 2.The grand jury of the Manathan Award South Asia recognised Puduvai Vani for blending the involvement of community at the optimum level with FM radio available for the students on Pondicherry University campus.For the award in community broadcasting category, a total of 16 members were nominated from various countries. Among them, six were selected as finalists by the grand jury and invited for a presentation at New Delhi. Programme. Executive S Saleema Rabiyath and the translator-cum-announcer K Karthikeyan attended the function and received the award.
