Asus launches the 11.6-inch EeeBook X205 in India at Rs 14,999
Asus, the company that had pioneered netbooks, is back with the smartly-priced Asus EeeBook X205TA.

New Delhi: Asus, the company that had pioneered netbooks is back, with the Asus EeeBook X205. Though it is no longer being called a netbook, but in terms of form and function the EeeBook X205 remains a netbook and also carries along a very appealing price tag of Rs 14,999. The EeeBook X205 goes on sale in India on Flipkart from today and on Asus Exclusive stores from February onwards.

The Asus EeeBook X205 was first unveiled at IFA 2014 and was available in the US at $199. The device has got positive reviews (read our review of the Asus EeeBook X205TA) and many see it as a direct competitor to Google Chromebooks.

The X205 a 11.6-inch Windows 8.1 notebook that weighs less than 1kg. It is infact lighter than Apple's fancied MacBook Air. The power-efficient Intel Bay Trail-T Quad Core Z3735 1.33 GHz processor, present in many tablets, drives the EeeBook X205 along with 2 GB of RAM.

The laptop however comes with a paltry 32 GB of onboard storage of which only 20.8 GB is user accessible. Though there exists a microSD card slot for optional storage addition. Asus also promises 500 GB of WebStorage for 2 years at no additional cost and the package also includes a 1-year subscription for Microsoft Office 365 (with 1 TB of online space).
