New Delhi: Kerala Excise Minister P K Gurudasan on Wednesday said that the government has no plan to lift the arrack ban enforced ten years back.

Gurudasan, who was addressing the assembly in Thiruvananthapuram, was quoted by news agency PTI as saying that no government had thought about lifting the ban since it was enforced 10 years back and it was not on the present LDF government's agenda too.

He added that banning IMFL was also not on the cards. Arrack was banned in Kerala in 1996 when A K Antony was the Chief Minister.

Health tourism was also discussed in the Hosue. “The government planned to come out with a legislation to enforce quality parameters for Ayurvedic health tourism,” Health Minister P K Sreemathi was quoted by PTI as saying.

Meanwhile, Tourism Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said the government had chalked out a number of programmes to create sufficient number of trained personnel for the tourism sector.
