PATHANAMTHITTA: Aravana prasadam manufacturing has started at Sabaraimala Lord Ayyappa temple on Thursday as part of the preparations for the forthcoming Mandalam-Makaravilaku season.Melsanthi Sasi Nampoothiri performed the poojas as part of the ceremony in the presence of Sabarimala executive officer M Satheeshkumar.The aravana production started early with the objective of achieving an opening stock of 25 lakh containers when the hill shrine opens for the two-month pilgrimage season on November 17, Satheeshkumar said.He said that the average daily production would be in the range of one lakh to 1.25 lakh containers. Satheeshkumar said that adequate quantity of raw materials, including rice, jaggery and cardamom, had already reached Sannidhanam.Satheeshkumar said that work on the setting of seven counters, three for the sale of prasadam coupons and four for the distribution of prasadam, would be completed before the beginning of the season. The tractor traffic, which carries raw materials for aravana prasadam and construction materials, between Pampa and Sannidhanam, has been suspended on Thursday for undertaking urgent repair work on the raod between Marakkoottam and Pampa. The road will be opened for traffic on Friday afternoon, Devaswom works division sources said.
