MAHABOOBNAGAR: Six hours after he fell into a 200 feetdeep abandoned borewell in an agriculture field, one and half year old boy Uppari Tirumalesh was rescued alive at Bingidoddi village of Aiza mandal in Mahaboobnagar district. The fourhour long rescue operation ended on a happy note with the doctors declaring the boy healthy even after he survived a sixhours ordeal 20 feet in the earth and without food. Uppari Veeresh and his wife had gone to work in agriculture fields on the outskirts of Bingidoddi village on Wednesday and took their son Tirumalesh along with them. While they were working, they left the boy under the shade of a tree with some toys. But when they returned around 4.30 p.m., the couple found their son missing. After searching in the nearby areas, they found he had fallen down a driedup, abandoned borewell. The pumpset had reportedly been removed and the mouth of the borewell had been left uncovered.
Villagers soon collected at the site and as news spread minister DK Aruna, Alampur MLA Abraham, district collector Purushotham Reddy, deputy superintendent of police Mahesh and other officials rushed to the spot. The official administration was pressed into service and rescue operations were launched at about 6.30 p.m. It was discovered that though the borewell was around 200 feet deep, the boy had got stuck at 20 feet depth. The rescuers deployed three proclainers to dig up a 25feet pit about 15 feet away and parallel to the borewell.
