Antulay shifts stand, says terrorists killed Karkare
Antulay maintained that there may be a conspiracy behind Karkare's death.

New Delhi: A R Antulay has tried to set the record straight on his shocking comments over ex-ATS chief Hemant Karkare's death. Now Antulay says he doesn't doubt terrorists killed the ATS chief, but wants a probe on who sent him that way.

Speaking to CNN-IBN, Antulay admitted that Hemant Karkare was killed by Pakistani terrorists, but maintained that the manner in which the incident took place was suspicious.

Following Antulay's comments, the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) will be meeting on December 18, 2008.

On Wednesday, AR Antulay stuck to his stand that there could be a conspiracy behind the death of Hemant Karkare.

Speaking inside the Lok Sabha during a discussion on the anti-terror bill, Antulay said that there should be separate investigation into this. The timing of these statements is crucial. The Congress is apprehensive that some Muslims may be alienated over the anti-terror bill.

It is likely that Antulay's comments may be publicly condemned by the Congress. Many suspect that it is a part of a well planned strategy.
