American Thrash Metal Band Slayer to debut in India
This year, Vladivar Rock'N India will raise its curtains on October 20th in Bangalore.

New Delhi: Vladivar Rock'N India, India's only annual International Rock music festival that conquers the heart of every music enthusiast in the country, is back again this year to take you into a frenzied world, full throttle. The annual festival, produced by DNA Entertainment Networks Pvt. Ltd. since 2008, has hosted some of the greatest artists in the world of International music. This year, Vladivar Rock'N India will raise its curtains on October 20th in Bangalore, featuring one of the world's most distinctive and radical thrash metal bands…SLAYER!

Credited as one of the 'Big Four' thrash metal acts ( other than Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax), Slayer was founded in 1981, when guitarist Kerry King met Jeff Hanneman while auditioning for a band. They recruited Chilean bassist and vocalist Tom Araya, who had played with King before in the band Quits (previously known as Tradewinds). Drummer Dave Lombardo was recruited when he met King while delivering a pizza.

Slayer received three Grammy nominations, winning one in 2007 for their song "Eye of the Insane" and one in 2008 for "Final Six". Being one of the most influential and distinctive bands of the 1980's, SLAYER's rise to fame was their 1986 release 'Reign in Blood', which was followed by some high-quality albums, their latest being World Painted Blood.

Marking their debut in India this year, SLAYER, will set your pulse racing with their downtuned rhythms , infectious guitar licks and diabolic lyrics.

Vladivar ROCK 'N INDIA is the only music platform of its kind and has been at the forefront of bringing top bands in the heavy metal genre to this festival, including iconic acts from Megadeth, Machine Head, Iron Maiden, Biffy Clyro and Metallica. About Slayer:

Slayer is an American thrash metal band formed in Huntington Park, California, in 1981 by guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King. Slayer rose to fame with their 1986 release, Reign in Blood, and is credited as one of the "Big Four" thrash metal acts, along with Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax.

Slayer's musical traits involve fast tremolo picking, double bass drumming, and shouted (or chanted) vocals. Hanneman, King, and bassist/lead vocalist Tom Araya, contribute to the band's lyrics. King and Hanneman create and arrange the music with additional arrangement from drummer Dave Lombardo and sometimes Araya.

Since their debut album in 1983, the band has released two live albums, one box set, six videos, two extended plays, and eleven studio albums, four of which have received gold certification in the United States. The band has received five Grammy nominations, winning two of them; one in 2007 for the song "Eyes of the Insane", and one in 2008 for the song "Final Six" (both from 2006's Christ Illusion).
