KHAMMAM: An alert has been sounded along the Andhra-Chhattishgarh border following an exchange of fire near Bejji village in Dantewada district of Chhattishgarh on Saturday morning.As many as three Central Reserve Police Force personnel died and three others sustained injuries.The area where the incident took place is very close to Andhra border and it spread panic among the people residing in the border areas. The officer on special duty Ravikrishna is monitoring the situation under the supervision of Khammam district SP P Hari Kumar.All the 11 police stations along the border have been alerted and combing operations have been intensified.Even the lower rung police officials have been advised not to move alone and remain alert. Additional Grey hounds and Central Reserve Police Forces have been deployed at various places, considered stronghold of the rebels.Police sources said that certain persons, considered targets by the Maoists, have been asked to move to safer places. The forces have sealed 250 kilometers along the border and they are not allowing any person from Chhattisgarh into Andhra side. Sleuths are also trying to gather more information on the movement of Maoists in the villages in Bhadrachalam division.OSD Ravikrishna said they are monitoring the situation in the border area. He said the forces are moving into forest strategically. He said tense situation is prevailing in the border area and vehicle checking is going on in all villages.It is learnt that the villagers are in a grip of fear and most of them are staying indoors.
