Ahmedabad: Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar has met Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi and assured his support to the sports events organised by the state government. "Akshay Kumar, who paid a courtesy visit to Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi, said that he will remain present on the inaugural function of Khel Mahakumbh-2011," an official statement said.
The 'Desi Boyz' star, who is an expert in martial arts, expressed his readiness to support sport events organised by the state, it said.
"I am impressed by the far-sighted planning of the Gujarat CM, and efforts made by the government here to inculcate sportsman spirit amongst children and youths," he was quoted as saying in the release.
Secretary for Youth and Cultural Activities department Bhagyesh Jha and Vikas Sahay of Sports Authority of India were also present on the occasion.
