Patna: The state-wide bandh by All India Students' Association (AISA) in support of Anna Hazare's demand for Jan Lokpal on Saturday evoked partial response with its activists stopping trains and disrupted functioning education institutions in several places.
The activists of AISA with support of Inqualab Naujawan Sabha brought out processions at five places in the state capital and blocked the busy Dakbungalow road for some time to enforce the call.
Around 300 AISA activists were detained by police to ensure smooth traffic on bailey and Frazer roads, official sources said.
AISA activists also disrupted functioning in colleges and Patna University in the capital, sources said, adding they also tried to force closure of the offices of the University.
They forced shopkeepers to down shutters of most of the shops on busy Ashok Rajpath in the city for a few hours.
According to a Bhojpur report, AISA activists detained the Delhi Patna Garib Rath at Ara station for ten minutes.
They also stopped the Darbhanga New Delhi Saptkranti Express at Darbhanga for more than an hour.
The state AISA Vice president Kerinath Yadav said the workers forced closure of the Mithila University and Kameshwar Singh Sanskrit University in Darbhanga.
He claimed the bandh was also observed in towns like Purnia, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur at the call of the AISA in support of the fight against corruption.
