Jailed gangster Abu Salem has come to the rescue of a 26-year-old woman by agreeing to marry her. Salem agreed to marry the woman after her claims that she could not find a groom because of being wrongly associated with the gangster.
According to a report in The Hindustan Times, the woman had approached the special TADA court seeking permission to marry Abu Salem, who is currently facing trial in connection to the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts.
The woman's lawyer had said that a police probe based on a published article in a local tabloid, linking her to Salem, sullied her image and she could not marry anybody else. Therefore, the woman decided to marry Salem.
The woman had reportedly threatened to kill herself if her application before the TADA court seeking permission to marry the gangster was not allowed.
This would be the third marriage for Abu Salem, who is earlier reported to have married Sumaira Jumani and actress Monica Bedi.
