New Delhi: Through films such as 'Kalyug', 'Woh Lamhe' and 'Murder 2', Mohit Suri has evolved as a filmmaker who knows about the pulse of the mass. Suri has come up with 'Aashiqui 2' this time, which is an intense story of two lovers.

'Aashiqui 2' has neither been inspired nor does it much resemble 'Abhimaan', the 1973 classic starring Amitabh Bachchan, says the film's producer Mahesh Bhatt.

"What was unique about 'Abhimaan' was a talented successful male artist discovering a simple but talented village girl and then falling in love with her, the resemblance to 'Aashiqui 2' ends there," Bhatt said at the media meet of 'Aashiqui 2'.

"'Aashiqui 2' being a love story of the 21st century deals with pain and loneliness as well as other issues that audiences in the 1990s or before wouldn't have connected with," he further elaborated.

The music of 'Aashiqui 2' has become superhit. Bhatt says in this regard, "'Aashiqui' was a cult movie. It will sound cliche if you say you want to reach that level. You can't repeat the success of any movie. So let's call it another movie, with a fresh cast, a whole new look, a whole new content and a rocking music director (Jeet Ganguly) who is a household name in Bengal and also making his mark in Mumbai."

Seen in 'Teen Patti' and 'Luv Ka The End', Shraddha Kapoor is the heroine of 'Aashiqui 2', she will be seen romancing Aditya Roy Kapoor in the film.

Talking about her preferences, she said, "It depends on the story. It has to excite me. I don't see a scene as an intimate scene. It's just that I want to be a part of a great story and do good roles."

"I don't see a scene as a lovemaking or a bold scene. There has to be something (in the story), which should attract me to a film. I treat all scenes like that," she said during a group interview.

While working on 'Aashiqui 2', she admits sharing a great bond with Aditya on and off the screen.

"Aditya and I got comfortable with each other and it shows on the screen. People have been calling me and telling me that we have a good chemistry. Off screen, we have become good friends and somewhere that has translated on the screen as well. That is wonderful," said the 24-year-old.

Director Mohit Suri's 'Aashiqui 2' is her first romantic film. Also, the fact that it is a sequel to 1990 romantic blockbuster 'Aashiqui' made it challenging for Shraddha. "Mohit is emotionally connected to the film. For us, to understand the depth of the film took a little bit of time and it was a challenge. But Mohit took us down to the level where he was, so we could understand what we were getting into," she said.

Thanks to the music, 'Aashiqui 2' has created a good enthusiasm among the viewers, however it's future would be predicted only on April 26, when it will open in theatres. (With inputs from PTI and IANS).
