New Delhi: A day after AAP MLA Somnath Bharti surrendered following Supreme Court’s order, he was on Tuesday sent to two day police custody.
Bharti had surrender in South West Delhi’s Dwarka police station on late Monday evening with his team of lawyers. He was arrested immediately after surrendering. Police is questioning the leader in a domestic violence case filed against him by his wife Lipika Mitra.
The former Delhi law minister was seeking protection from arrest in a domestic violence and attempt to murder case in which the Delhi High Court had already rejected his petition for anticipatory bail.
This comes days after Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted that Bharti was becoming an embarrassment for his family as well as the Aam Aadmi Party.
