CHENNAI: If you want to give your closet a facelift, Sublime, an exquisite designer clothing line, is the place to go to. Having launched its first store in the city on Kilpauk Gardens Road, the store was inaugurated by TT Rangarajan, founder of Alma Mater.Chennai-based designer Sheetal Bhansali, who was also at the event, has experimented with colours but kept the fabric simple and light, keeping in mind the climate of the city. She mostly used cotton and net with heavy thread work and block prints.Priced between `800 and `15,000, her collection is affordable for all.“The response was overwhelming, I did not expect so many people to drop in. It’s definitely encouraging,” said the National College of Design graduate.“What encouraged me the most was when Mr Rangarajan bought something for his daughter. I couldn’t have had a better start,” she added. It might be her first attempt at starting a business, but she has had her share of successful exhibitions in the past. Last year, her designs were on display at the Taj Coromondel and was received well. However, the opening was a good one with scores of people dropping by. Some came to congratulate while some to be a part of the celebration.
