KOCHI: Magic with a Mission, the anti-addiction campaign jointly organised by State Youth Welfare Board, Excise Department, the Corporation and the district administration, will be launched in the city on November 23.Undertaken by magician Gopinath Muthukad’s Magic Academy, the five-day campaign will focus on awareness programmes on the harmful effects of tobacco and drugs.Magic shows conveying strong messages on the harmful effects of addiction will be performed at the Ernakulam Town Hall from November 23 to November 27.A free pass for the event will be issued from the Magic Academy at Valanjambalam for those interested. “Apart from the magic programmes, 15 students from city-based schools will be selected to be trained to carry out anti-addiction campaigns among the public,” Muthukad said. The event was a first of its kind in Kerala, he said. Excise Minister K Babu will inaugurate the camp. Mayor Tony Chammany, deputy Mayor B Bhadra, District Collector P I Sheikh Pareeth, actor Siddique and director Mecartin will attend the inaugural function.
