8,400 drunken driving cases in 10 months
Follow us:WhatsappFacebookTwitterTelegram.cls-1{fill:#4d4d4d;}.cls-2{fill:#fff;}Google NewsMore than 8,400 drunken-driving cases have been registered by the city Traffic Police since it launched the drive against the drunken driving 10 months ago. This weekend, the Traffic Police caught 258 persons for violating the rule. According to additional commissioner of police (Traffic) C V Anand, the drive carried out on August 24 and 25 resulted in registering 258 cases which included a case against a woman for driving vehicle in an intoxicant condition. Of these, 75 vehicles are fourwheelers, 171 two-wheelers and 12 autos. The violator had to compulsorily attend the Traffic Training Institutes at Goshamahal and Begumpet and undergo a detailed counselling session. After the counselling session and getting their challan stamped at the Institute, they would be produced before the court where a fine would be imposed on them.  After paying the fine, the violator has to come back to the concerned police station and collect their vehicle. ``This entire process may take three to seven days.  To avoid inconvenience and in view of their own safety, the police appeals to all citizens not to drive under influence of alcohol,’’ Anand said. first published:August 31, 2012, 09:24 ISTlast updated:August 31, 2012, 09:24 IST
