Three brothers allegedly killed four members of a family, including their father, over a land dispute in Kesarpur village in Bhuta area in Bareilly, the police said on Friday.
The incident took place on Thursday when the three accused sons entered the house of Kanturi Pal (75), father, and shot him, his son Reetram (29), daughter-in-law Seema (29) and one-year-old grand son Lucky over the dipute of 42 bigha of land.
All the three died on the spot. The accused have been identified as Pappu, Arjun and Ramchandra--all sons of Kanturi. The three also tried to kill their brother Nareshpal (45) but he was somehow saved by the villagers. He, however, sustained injuries in the incident.
The accused were envious with their brothers Reetram and Nareshpal as their father Kanturi (who had five sons) used to stay with the victims and had intentions to give his property to them.
The police have launched a manhunt to nab the assailants, who managed to flee from the scene after the incident.
