22 hurt in Kashmir car bomb blast
At least 22 people were injured in a car bomb explosion outside a CRPF camp in Srinagar on Tuesday.

Srinagar: At least 22 people, including four troopers of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), were injured when a car bomb exploded near a paramilitary camp here Tuesday evening.

Police said the explosive-laden vehicle was parked near the CRPF camp at Karan Nagar area, which is two km away from the city centre Lal Chowk. Three policemen and 15 civilians were also wounded in the attack

The injured have been admitted to the Sardar Maharaja Hari Singh Hospital here for treatment. Two of them are said to be serious.

"Most of the injured civilians are shopkeepers of the area," said S.M Sahai, inspector general of police (Kashmir zone).

According to the police, a grenade was thrown towards the camp by militants after which the explosive-laden vehicle was detonated.

Said Farouq Ahmed, deputy inspector general of police (Kashmir range): "Police and paramilitary forces surrounded the area immediately and searches are underway."

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack so far.
