VELLORE: The community health centre at Lalapet, near Ranipet, had conducted the 1,000th caesarean section on Tuesday. Caesarean section deliveries have been performed here since 2007 for women referred from the nearby Primary Health Centres of Ammur, Sumaithangi and Musiri.The cesarean was performed on Prabavathy of Sengadumottur and a baby boy was born to her. Talking to the media, the medical officer of the centre Dr Chithra, said that both mother and child are in good health.The hospital happens to be the first community health centre in the country to be ISO certified. Physicians, nurses and other staff at the centre celebrated the occasion by cutting a cake. The centre’s Anaesthetist Parrymarks, Surgeon Idhayaloga, Physician Anbarasi and Health Inspector Rajasekar were present on the occasion.
