Lord Balaji at Tirumala hill shrine has reportedly created a ‘new record’ in terms of the net worth when compared to the market capitalization of major stock market listed companies in India.
The net worth of the deity’s assets is close to Rs 3 lakh crore, whereas the market capitalization of major companies listed in the stock market like TATA Motors, Nestle and Bajaj Finserv is reportedly valued at Rs 2.6 lakh crore.
According to the white paper released by Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) in 2022, the net worth of assets that belong to Sri Venkateswara Swamy amounts to Rs 2.5 lakh crore.
Sources in the TTD, however, said that the net worth may now have reached nearly Rs 3 lakh crore as the 2022 white paper was released almost 14 months ago.
The annual income of the Hundi at the sacred hill shrine is said to be more than the annual income of Indian cricket legends like Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli. While Tendulkar earned Rs 1,300 crore and Kohli earned Rs 1,000 crore, the annual income of Lord Balaji’s Hundi in Tirumala registered an whopping amount of Rs 1,400 crore.
Sri Venkateswara Swamy’s income comes through various sources, including direct offerings of devotees, hair from devotees after tonsuring heads, interest amount on fixed deposits and hundred crores of rupees in the form of donations to various trusts by the devotees run by the TTD.
Dharma Reddy, TTD’s executive officer, recently announced the details of the assets of Lord Balaji. Accordingly, 11,225 kg of gold in the name of Lord Balaji was deposited in various banks.
The golden ornaments for the presiding deity weighed 1.2 tons, apart from 10 tons of silver ornaments.
The immovable assets include 6,000 acres of forest land under the TTD limits and properties of 7,636 acres at 75 places. Out of which 1,226 acres are of agriculture and 6,409 acres of non-agriculture land.
As many as 71 temples across the country have been running in association with the TTD and it has 535 other assets, out of which 159 have been given under lease where the TTD will get an annual income of Rs 4 crore through the leased assets.
The TTD has been mulling to give other 169 assets on lease. The TTD has Kalyana Mandapams at as many as 307 places. Out of these, 29 have been given on lease to the endowment department and 166 Kalyana Mandapams to others on lease.
The TTD will get an annual income of Rs 4 crore through the leased mandapams. It is also running 97 mandapams and collected donations from the devotees worth Rs 1,021 crore through SRIVANI Trust.
