How to Get Perfect Fruit in Animal Crossing: New Leaf
When you first move into your Animal Crossing: New Leaf town, you’ll notice that one type of fruit grows on the trees there. This is known as your native fruit. Your native fruit can sometimes grow a different-looking variety, known as the perfect fruit. This perfect fruit is more valuable than the regular fruit. It might take a while to get perfect fruits, but with patience you’ll soon be getting them.
Steps

Harvest some native fruits. Growing perfect fruit comes down to perseverance and luck in Animal Crossing: New Leaf, so to get perfect fruit, you should plant a lot of native fruit trees. You can accomplish this by standing next to a tree bearing your native fruit, and pressing A. This will cause the tree to shake and any fruit to fall to the ground.

Place the native fruits in your inventory. Pick the fallen fruits up by standing next to them and pressing Y, effectively placing them in your inventory. As a space-saving trick, you can open your inventory and drag one piece of fruit onto another to create a fruit basket. Any fruit basket must be entirely the same type of fruit and can hold up to nine pieces, which is three trees’ worth.

Dig holes. Once you have the fruits in your inventory, you need to go around with your shovel equipped and dig holes. To dig a hole, press A with your shovel equipped. When digging holes, take care not to place them too close to any other object or tree because the sapling will not have enough access to sun and nutrients to grow; instead, it will wither and die. Trees will also not thrive too close to buildings, rivers, ponds, and cliff edges.

Plant a native fruit. Then, while facing the hole, open up your inventory. On the inventory screen, tap on your fruit (or basket of fruit) and then choose “Bury.” Your character will bury the fruit in the ground, and you’ll see the hole close up and a sapling take its place. Burying a fertilizer next to a tree will increase your chances of getting a perfect fruit.

Wait for the tree to grow. The waiting period for a full-grown tree is three or four days. You can time travel to save the wait.

Check if you have perfect fruits. The reason you want to plant as many trees as possible of your native fruit is because there is a random chance of a perfect fruit appearing on one of these trees. Thus, you also want to be checking these trees frequently in order to see if you have one or not. For pears, look for a pear that is golden and thus significantly different in coloration than its normal counterpart. For apples, look for apples that have speckles on them an look darker. For oranges, look for an orange that has a bump on the top of it. For peaches, look for one that is golden, much like the pears. For cherries, look for a pair of cherries with gold just on the bottom.

Plant perfect fruits. Once you have obtained a perfect fruit, you can bury it the same way you would any other fruit, but this sapling will turn into a tree that bears perfect fruit only, and you’re on your way to having a town full of perfect fruit! An important thing to remember: perfect fruit trees will die after a number of harvests (anywhere between four and seven). When you notice a perfect tree die (the entire tree will go bare), you will need to plant another one to replace it if you want to keep growing and harvesting perfect fruit. When the perfect tree dies, you can either chop it down, or bury a fertilizer next to it to revive it into a a regular fruit tree. If you have Leif's store, he will send you a letter with a fertilizer once the tree loses its leaves.

Continue planting perfect fruit trees and enjoying them in your town!
