How to Find Food in Minecraft
How to Find Food in Minecraft
If you're playing Minecraft's survival mode on any difficulty higher than Peaceful, you will eventually need food. Without it you can starve to death. You also won't regain any health you lose in combat. Fortunately, there are a variety of ways you can get food in Minecraft. This wikiHow teaches you how to find food in Minecraft.
Steps

Look around for animals and slaughter them. Animals are the easiest source of food in Minecraft. You can get meat from pigs, chickens, cows, sheep, and rabbits by slaughtering them. You can slaughter them by striking them repeatedly using the left mouse button or right trigger button on a game controller. It will take fewer strikes if you use a sword. Animals drop raw meat, which can be eaten. To get the most out of your food, you should cook it first. To cook your food, you first need to craft a furnace out of stone using a crafting table. Then use coal or wood as fuel to cook your food. Eating raw chicken causes food poisoning. This will make your hunger bar appear green and it will deplete quickly. Always cook your food.

Harvest crops from village gardens. Villages have multiple gardens full of wheat, carrots, potatoes, and beetroot. Simply strike the crops using the left mouse button or right trigger and then walk over the vegetables to collect them. Beetroot, carrots, and potatoes can be eaten raw but will fill your hunger more if cooked in a furnace first. Wheat must be crafted into bread using a crafting table before it can be eaten. Villages aren't overly common and only appear in grasslands and deserts. In rare instances, they may appear in Savannah or Taiga biomes. Make sure you limit your search to these biomes.

Go fishing. To go fishing, you will need to craft a fishing rod out of three sticks and two pieces of string using a crafting table. Then equip the fishing rod and stand next to a body of water. Right-click or press the left trigger on a game controller to cast your fishing line. When the bobber sinks, right-click or press the left trigger again to reel in the fish. Fish can be eaten raw but will fill your hunger more if cooked in a furnace first. Raw fish can also be used to lure cats.

Search chests. Chests can be found inside village houses, strongholds, desert and jungle temples, woodland mansions, mines, pillager outposts, shipwrecks, and more. Chests will often contain food in them. When you find a chest, right-click or press the left trigger on a game controller to open it. Then drag the contents of the chest into your inventory.

Kill zombies and/or spiders. Zombies drop rotten flesh and spiders drop spider's eyes, both of which can be consumed by the player. However, spider's eyes will poison you, causing you to lose health, so only eat them when your health bar is full or nearly full. Zombie flesh will most likely give you food poisoning, which will cause your hunger to deplete more quickly. However, both of these can be cured by drinking milk (which can be acquired from a cow using a bucket). You can outpace the hunger depletion caused by food poisoning by eating multiple rotten flesh.

Look for melons when in the jungle. Melons are a good source of food in jungle biomes. Cocoa beans can be made into cookies, but only if you have wheat as well. Strike melons by clicking or press the left trigger button on a game controller to break them open.

Break oak leaf blocks. There is a chance that an oak leaf, when broken, will drop an apple, which can be eaten. This method is a bit iffy, as there is no guarantee any given oak tree will contain an apple. Oak trees are the shortest trees. They have light brown trunks with the leaf blocks evenly dispersed on top. Click or press the right trigger on a game controller to break leaf blocks.

What's your reaction?
