Will Chris Evans Return As Captain America? Here’s What The Actor Has To Say

Chris Evans, who is popular for portraying the iconic character of Captain America in the Marvel movie franchise, has hinted that he may reprise his role. But the actor also added that his character reprisal is not in the cards anytime soon. It is been nearly five years since Evans’ final appearance as Captain America in the 2019 film Avengers: Endgame, which marked the end of an era for the franchise. However, ever since the film concluded, fans have been eagerly waiting for the return of their favourite Marvel superheroes on the big screens. Recently, in an interview with GQ, Chris Evans updated his fans about the possibility of returning as Captain America and how the role changed his life.

When asked about returning as Captain America to the Marvel Cinematic Universe Chris Evans said, “I’ll never say never, just because it was such a wonderful experience. But I’m also very precious with it. It’s something that I am very proud of. And like I said, sometimes I can’t believe it even happened. And I wouldn’t want the black eye if it felt like a cash grab, if it didn’t live up to expectations, or if it just felt like it wasn’t connected to that original thing. So, no time soon.”

Chris Evans also recalled a previous statement made by acclaimed director Quentin Tarantino. “Part of the Marvel-ization of Hollywood is you have all these actors who have become famous playing these characters. But they’re not movie stars. Right? Captain America is the star. Or, Thor is the star,” Quarantino had said earlier. Evans agreed with Tarantino’s opinion and said, “You know, he’s right. The character is the star. You’re there, but you don’t feel the burden of it.”

During the course of the conversation, Chris Evans mentioned that he initially refused to play the role of Captain America but the actor was quick to chime in that he was grateful for signing the film contract. “I love playing that role… I feel connected to it in a way that when you revisit a character so many times you can’t help but try to absorb some of their traits and measure yourself against them,” he said.

Although the actor has played some significant roles in his film career, Chris Evans stated, “By no means have I climbed any sort of a mountain in this field. I have no Oscars and I’m not lumped with other names that are at the top of the mountain in any way. But I also feel very satisfied.” Chris Evans has been reigning in Hollywood for over 20 years. Some of his recent works include Ghosted and Pain Hustlers among others.
