'The Great Wall of India': Netizens Hail PR Sreejesh's Efforts as India Beat Great Britain to Enter the Semi-Finals

The Indian Men’s Hockey team produced a win to remember for ages as they defeated Great Britain 1-1 (4-2 SO) in the Quarter-Finals of the 2024 Paris Olympics, despite playing with one player less for most of the match.

The Indian team were put under massive pressure from the British attackers but the defensive unit led by the stalwart, PR Sreejesh managed to get the side over the line to ensure a historic win.

Sreejesh’s efforts from the goal-line garnered a lot of reactions across social media as well, indicating how much the veteran keeper was tested.

One user had a witty name for the veteran. He said,” Defence Minister”.

Another user saluted the efforts by Sreejesh which allowed the Indian team to qualify for the semi-final and continue their quest for a gold medal.

In the shootout, Harmanpreet Singh, Sukhjeet Singh, Lalit Kumar Upadhyay, and Raj Kumar Pal successfully converted their chances for India. For Great Britain, James Albery and Zach Wallace scored, but Conor Williamson’s shot was off target and Philip Roper’s attempt was saved by India’s stalwart goalkeeper Sreejesh.

The efforts of PR Sreejesh were the highlight of the match as the ‘Wall of India’ was certainly an impenetrable force which the Brits failed to crack open.

The efforts of Sreejesh from goal certainly had shades of the Argentinan World Cup winner in football, Emiliano Martinez with the Indian veteran not shy to talk back to his opponents.

With this win, India have entered the Semi-Finals, where they will face the winner of the Argentina vs Germany Quarter-Final match.
