Gurugram Company Offers One-day Leave to Help Employees 'Cope' With India's World Cup Loss
Gurugram-based company gives one-day relaxation leave to employees after India's World Cup 2023 loss.

In the aftermath of India’s heartbreaking loss in the World Cup 2023, the entire cricket-crazy nation finds itself in the depths of grief. Fans, in their peculiar way, are humourously beseeching everyone from companies to colleges for a day off to properly mourn the unthinkable loss. Amidst this cry for solace, there emerges a company that not only took this plea seriously but also recognised the need to tend to the mental and emotional well-being of its workforce. So, they did what any empathetic employer would do – they granted a day’s leave to their employees in order to “come back stronger.”

Diksha Gupta, a member of the Marketing Moves Agency in Gurugram, shared her sentiments on LinkedIn following Australia’s victory by 6 wickets in the World Cup 2023 final. Having been actively involved in the World Cup campaigns, she expressed the difficulty faced by her team in coping with the loss. However, then came a twist in the tale.

“Today morning, I woke up with a message from my boss granting a one-day leave relaxation to everyone due to the impact of this loss. It was a surprise that none of us could believe until the official email arrived,” she revealed in the now-viral post.

Alongside, she shared screenshots of the message received by her boss, Chirag Alawadhi, which read, “Hi Team! In light of India’s loss in the current WC, we recognise the impact on our team members. To offer some support during this time, the company has decided to grant a one-day leave relaxation. We believe this will provide an opportunity for everyone to regroup and recover. We will come back stronger.” The subsequent email made it official.

This unexpected turn of events joins the ranks of a Faridabad school, making headlines for postponing unit tests to let students soak in the drama of the high-octane finale.
