Tevez wants Man United return
However Ferguson insists there is no chance of the Argentine returning to Old Trafford.

Manchester: Manchester United have reportedly been approached with the opportunity to buy back Carlos Tevez from Manchester City.

A party close to Tevez made an inquiry to United regarding a potential transfer for the striker, but the informal approach was picked up by Sir Alex Ferguson and sources close to the club insist there is no chance of the Argentine returning to Old Trafford.

Tevez departed United in 2009 and has requested a transfer from City, which would have alerted the majority of Europe's top clubs, but Fergie seems to have closed the door on any potential comeback.

The striker is in line to return against Everton in a match that has the potential to take City to the top of the table, and manager Roberto Mancini has said he has no qualms about selecting Tevez.

City, meanwhile, still insist that the motivation for the player's desire to leave comes from his advisor, Kia Joorabchian, and maintain their belief that the Argentine has no issues with the club, their manager or their players.

City have also rejected the striker's transfer request and reiterated that they expect to keep him until the end of the season, although Tevez may well be stripped of the captaincy after expressing his desire to leave.

According to The Daily Mail, a City insider said: "Carlos has been back training with his usual enthusiasm. He will not only return to the side against Everton on Monday, but he is determined to play a part in the team's push for as high a Premier League finish as they can achieve.

"The club have demonstrated where they stand. Carlos is going nowhere. Now all we want is to concentrate on winning as many matches as we can between now and the end of the season."
