Real Madrid ready to sell Chelsea target Alonso

Madrid: Spanish giants Real Madrid are preparing to sell their midfielder Xabi Alonso. According to reports, Real will sell Xabi once they wrap up a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Asier Illarramendi.

Illarramendi will move to Madrid as a direct replacement for Xabi, who is wanted by former club Liverpool and Jose Mourinho's Chelsea. Real want at least 12 million euros for the midfielder, 31, who has less than 12 months to run on his existing deal.

Mourinho is thought to be a huge fan of him and is ready to meet the asking price. Liverpool will also be hoping to land their former star and team him up with Steven Gerrard once again.

Manchester City are also thought to be monitoring the situation but move is highly unlikely.
