A report in the Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf suggests that the current Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal has reached an agreement to replace the ousted David Moyes as the manager of the Premier League heavyweights Manchester United.
"The national coach late last [Friday] night reached a deal with the top British club," the newspaper has said in its report. "The man who's the absolute number one to replace axed coach David Moyes will immediately take up the job when the Dutch Eleven is knocked out of the World Cup in Brazil," it further read.
The 62-year-old Dutchman "has been in talks with Ed Woodward, lawyer for club owners the Glazer brothers for a multi-year, multi-million contract," the newspaper report said.
Earlier in the week, the British club announced that Moyes has left the club as manager after the 20-time champions fell out of the race for a top-four finish in the English Premier League, following their Champions League exit.
Current player Ryan Giggs was appointed as the club's interim manager with United stalwarts Phil Neville, Paul Scholes and Nicky Butt as his assistants.
