Liverpool get the better of Barcelona
Barca had a chance to equalise in the 86th minute but Deco free kick from the right hit Reina's left post.

New Delhi: Spanish football giants Barcelona lost their match against Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League round of 16 first leg match at the Nou Camp Stadium in Barcelona on Wednesday.

The opening goal of the match was scored by Barcelona's Deco when he headed in a Zambrotta pass in the 14th minute.

But Liverpool came back strongly in the game and an error by the Barca goalkeeper Victor Valdez gave Liverpool the eqauliser.

Liverpool's Steve Finnan’s cross found Craig Bellamy whose flying header towards the goal was fumbled by Valdez.

Dirk Kuyt netted in the rebound but the goal was was awarded to Bellamy as Valdez had caught the ball behind the goal line.

Barcelona were all at sea when in the 73rd minute Valdez blundered again and the ball rebounded to Kuyt. He fired from a close range but the ball hit Valdez's body.

However, Barca's bad luck continued as the ball fell near Bellamy's feet and he passed the ball to John Arne Riise.

Riise made not mistake to fire the ball into the Barcelona net.

Barca had a chance to equalise in the 86th minute but Deco free kick from the right hit Pepe Reina's left post and went out of play.

The match ended 2-1 in favour of Liverpool.
