Manchester United did not have quite a memorable outing last time when they faced Liverpool. During their last meeting with Liverpool earlier this year in March, Manchester United had to suffer a forgettable 7-0 loss at Anfield. Manchester United are now all set to visit Liverpool once again on Sunday.
Needless to say, ahead of the weekend’s Premier League fixture, Manchester United fans will be haunted by the memories of that defeat at the hands of Liverpool.
Legendary Liverpool footballer Jamie Carragher recently recalled that game by taking a cheeky dig at former Manchester United defender Gary Neville.
Carragher was seen donning a unique Christmas jumper with a statement that read, “Oh I wish I could relive this every day… When the Kop starts singing, the Reds begin to play.”
The nicely knitted top, sported by Jamie Carragher, depicted a smiling face of his in front of a dejected Gary Neville with “7-Nil” written in the background. A video of Carragher wearing the unique jumper was shared by Neville on social media platform X, formerly Twitter. “Arrogance is a sure path to failure,” read the caption of the post shared by Neville.

In the video, Jamie Carragher was heard singing, “There’s no need to be afraid,” quoting the 1984 Band Aid hit Do They Know It’s Christmas?. The footballer-turned-pundit quipped, “Confidence… confidence my friend.”
Liverpool’s Cody Gakpo, Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah had scored a brace each in that game against Manchester United in March this year to earn a resounding victory for their side. Brazilian international Roberto Firmino netted the other goal for the Merseyside-based outfit.
Liverpool have been in stunning form in the Premier League so far this season as Jurgen Klopp’s men currently sit atop the points table. Having played 16 Premier League matches till now, table-toppers Liverpool have claimed 37 points. They have conceded one defeat in the domestic league so far.
Manchester United are placed at the sixth spot on the Premier League points table. Manchester United will enter this weekend’s contest against Liverpool having won one of their last five matches across all competitions. Manchester United’s last victory was against Chelsea in the Premier League earlier this month.
