ISL Transfer News: Chennaiyin FC Rope in Mobashir Rahman on Loan From East Bengal FC
The move reunites the 25-year-old midfielder with Chennaiyin coach Owen Coyle after the pair had worked together during their time at Jamshedpur FC.

ISL side Chennayin FC brought in Mobashir Rahman on loan from East Bengal FC to represent the Marina Machans for the remainder of the ISL 2023-24 season.

The move reunites the 25-year-old midfielder with Chennaiyin coach Owen Coyle after the pair had worked together during their time at Jamshedpur FC.

The 57-year-old was all praise for the midfielder who has been brought in to increase the options at the middle of the park for the team from Tamil Nadu.

“Rahman is a wonderful talent and has proven himself at the top stage for Jamshedpur FC and East Bengal FC,” Coyle said.

“I have worked with him previously during my time at Jamshedpur and know his quality on the field,” he added.

“He is a valuable addition to our midfield and we are excited to work with him for the remainder of the season”, the Brit said.

The Jamshedpur-born midfielder was equally excited about the move to the South Indian side and was thrilled about the opportunity to play under the 57-year-old again.

“I am excited to join two-time ISL champions Chennaiyin FC and looking forward to work under the guidance of head coach Owen Coyle once again, who has helped me to improve my game in the past as well,” Rahman said.

Rahman has made 83 appearances in the ISL and has found the back of the net twice in addition to setting up four goals for his teammates.

“I hope to give my best for the team, working hard day in and day out to help the club achieve its goal for the season ahead and make our fans happy,” the player said.

CFC will resume their campaign with their game against Punjab FC at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubneshwar in the Kalings Super Cup on the 11th of January. The capital city team from Tamil Nadu will square up against I-League giants Gokulam Kerala on the 16th of the month for their second game, before closing out their group stage in the tournament with a fixture against Mumbai City FC on the 21st of the month.
