Monaco: Michel Platini has apologized for refusing to discuss FIFA issues at his first news conference since announcing his bid for president of the governing body last month.
UEFA had said its president would reveal campaign ideas and take questions at his annual meeting with international media in Monaco.
However, Platini closed a one-hour session by apologizing because "I know why you all came and I know what you're interested in hasn't been discussed today."
Platini began by telling his spokesman to be a "policeman" blocking FIFA-related questions.
The FIFA vice president is the front-runner to succeed former mentor Sepp Blatter, who is stepping down under pressure from American and Swiss investigations of corruption implicating FIFA officials.
Would-be candidates must be nominated by Oct. 26 for the Feb. 26 ballot.
