FA nominates Bernstein as new chairman
The 67-year-old Bernstein will be the full-time replacement for David Triesman.

London: The English Football Association has nominated David Bernstein to be the organization's new chairman.

If his appointment is endorsed on January 25, the 67-year-old Bernstein will be the full-time replacement for David Triesman, who resigned in May after being recorded in a newspaper sting saying that Spain and Russia were colluding to bribe referees at the 2010 World Cup.

Roger Burden had been acting chairman and was expected to take the role permanently before he withdrew his application this month. He said he couldn't trust FIFA following its decision to award Russia the 2018 World Cup ahead of England.

The FA says Bernstein, who is the former chairman of clothing label French Connection and northwest club Manchester City, was nominated unanimously.
