Eto'o keen on Inter return on loan in January
Eto'o left Inter for Russian club Anzhi in a 27 million Euros transfer in August.

Milan: Anzhi Makhachkala striker Samuel Eto'o is interested in returning to Inter Milan on loan during the Russian league's winter break, Italian media reported Thursday, although both clubs say such a move would be unlikely.

Eto'o, who left Inter for Anzhi Makhachkala in a 27 million Euros transfer in August, was spotted driving his Ferrari around downtown Milan earlier this week.

The 30-year-old moved to the Russian club during the summer transfer window and said he would always support Inter.

The Gazzetta dello Sport reports that if Eto'o joins the San Siro outfit in the off-season, he could play nine Serie A matches with Inter in January and February and one Champions League game, if they advance from the group stages.

Anzhi would still have to approve such a move.

However, Anzhi general director German Chistyakov said on a fan forum website on Thursday that "even in my worst nightmare it is impossible to imagine such a scenario.

"During this period the player, as a total professional, will be preparing for the upcoming, extremely difficult season with Anzhi," Chistyakov added.

The Russian championship ends on November 6 and does not start again until March 3, 2012.

Eto'o would be eligible to join Inter on loan terms from January 2 when the transfer window in Italy reopens for business.

Inter have a non-EU place available for Eto'o to return and he will not take part in the Africa Cup of Nations in January after Cameroon failed to qualify, leaving him free to return in theory.

Cameroon striker Eto'o led Inter with 37 goals in all competitions last season, and Milan have struggled without him, gaining just four points in their opening five league games this season. Inter have also replaced Gian Piero Gasperini with Claudio Ranieri as manager.

"I've been away until today and I don't know anything about this story," Inter president Massimo Moratti said late on Thursday. "Eto'o is well regarded in the changing room but I would say it's 90 percent he won't come."

Moratti added that at the time of Eto'o's transfer there was no discussion about a possible return.

"It's nice that he has expressed this desire," Moratti said.
