Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca seems to have already prepared his plans for Jadon Sancho. The Blues completed a loan deal for Jadon Sancho on the deadline day of the summer transfer window. A loan deal has been signed between Chelsea and Manchester United and the contract includes an option for permanent buy at £25 million. While the majority of his Chelsea teammates are on international break, Sancho has not been called up to represent England in the UEFA Nations League. It has provided the 24-year-old with a window to settle in at the new club.
Enzo Maresca was elated to have Jadon Sancho at Chelsea as he felt the winger would add significant strength to his attacking unit. Sancho has been undergoing training at Cobham since completing his move to London. Sancho will be keen to gain the trust of Maresca, who may help him reignite his career.
About having Jadon Sancho in the squad, Enzo Maresca said, as per a post shared by transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano, “I’m very happy to have Sancho at Chelsea, he’s here because we like that kind of player who can help in one vs one. He’s key – especially against a low block, we need him,”.
Enzo Maresca will look to make Jadon Sancho understand his tactics before his Chelsea debut. The ongoing international break has benefitted them. Speculations are rife about how Maresca will use Sancho in the attacking line-up.
Mykhailo Mudryk has so far played as the first-choice left-winger this season. Chelsea have also signed Pedro Neto this summer and the Portuguese forward may demand the same role. Neto, however, is equally comfortable to play on the right.
Football journalist, Simon Phillips, recently reported that Sancho had been playing as a left-winger in Chelsea training. It might be seen as an indication that Maresca would assign England international his preferred role. “In small-sided games in training last week, the coaching staff have picked Sancho on the left wing and that is where he’s been playing,” Phillips wrote on his Substack, as per The Chelsea Chronicle.
Enzo Maresca will have plenty of options for the attacking combination if Jadon Sancho fails to provide him with the desired result. The forward may make his Chelsea debut in the next Premier League match against Bournemouth on September 15.
