New Delhi: Former England football team skipper David Beckham will play his last game for Real Madrid on Sunday against Real Mallorca and he is looking for the ultimate parting gift.
"There is no clause in the contract I signed with the Galaxy saying it could be changed. So as far as everyone knows now my last game will be in Sunday. I've played for Real Madrid for four years. It has been an incredible time. Hopefully, it will end with the best ending possible, with winning La Liga. But this is it," Beckham said addressing his last press conference with the Real Madrid team.
The England midfielder returned to training on Thursday after sitting out Madrid's midweek sessions to rest his sprained ankle, knowing a victory on Sunday will end a four-year title drought.
Beckham has won only one trophy with Madrid, the Spanish Supercup after his arrival from Manchester United in 2003.
"I could have, without a doubt, stayed at Real Madrid for two or three more years, to stay for the rest of my career. But things change, things happen, but I have a lot of respect for the President (Ramon Calderon), I have a lot of respect for Fabio Capello (Real coach). He is one of the best managers in football. I respect him as a person and I respect him as a manager. I wish him luck with everything that he continues to do for Real Madrid and in his life. But, for me, my Real Madrid career will be over after Sunday," Beckham, who is moving to Major League Soccer's Los Angeles Galaxy, said.
Undoubtedly, the former England skipper would love to end his playing days at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium as he started them - with a win over Mallorca.
