Birmingham: Aston Villa brought Manchester City to earth with a 3-2 victory in the English Premier League on Saturday with Andreas Weimann scoring the winner in the 75th minute.
In their first league game since humbling rival Manchester United 4-1, City went ahead 2-1 with a close-range header from Edin Dzeko in the 56th before Villa hit back with two goals in two minutes.
The host equalised with a free kick from Leandro Bacuna in the 73rd and Weimann grabbed the victory with a right-footed shot from outside the area.
Yaya Toure opened the scoring for City in the 45th and Karim El Ahmadi equalised for Villa six minutes after the interval. City provisionally drop to at least fifth in the league, with Villa moving to ninth.
In the other match, Cardiff celebrated their first away win in the Premier League with a last-gasp 2-1 defeat of Fulham to pile more pressure on manager Martin Jol. Cries of "Jol out" were heard after substitute Jordon Mutch inflicted defeat on the Cottagers with a curling goal in the second minute of injury time.
Steven Caulker's opener for Cardiff in the 12th had been cancelled out in the 45th by Bryan Ruiz, who was sent on shortly before the break.
Fulham owner Shahid Khan has already removed the Michael Jackson statue from Craven Cottage with media speculation that Jol could be the next to be toppled.
In the other match, Southampton scored two goals in two minutes at the start of the second-half for a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace.
New signing Pablo Osvaldo opened the scoring in the 47th minute and England striker Rickie Lambert added the second just two minutes later from a free kick - his 200th career league goal.
Crystal Palace forward Marouane Chamakh had appealed for a penalty in the first half, but was booked for diving instead in one of the visitors' few good chances.
It was Southampton's first home league win since March and came a week after beating Liverpool 1-0 away, putting the team provisionally into fourth place in the standings with 11 points from six games.
